The Myths of Penis Enlargement

Among other things, penis size is what men feel most conscious about. And not all men have the length and the girth that could satisfy a blue whale. Hence, a lot of advertisements and websites have appeared offering men with secret techniques that would make their penises larger. However, are they all true?

Before we demystify each technique, let us familiarize ourselves with what the penis is all about. Enclosed in a case of skin, the penis is made up of nerves, blood vessels, fibrous tissue, smooth muscle, and three cylindrical bodies of spongy tissue that are filled with blood when a man has an erection. The penis does not have a bone, and there is some skeletal muscle at the base of the penis. Here are some methods that claim that can increase penis size and determine whether they are true.

Jelquing and Jojido

These are promoted as exercises used since ancient times to increase the length of the penis. However, these exercises are merely mystifying basic masturbation techniques used all over and they have no effect on penis size.

The "jelquing," also known as "jelq," is portrayed as an "Arabian" method that involves wrapping the index finger and thumb around or using the same fingers to pinch at the base of the penis and then pulling it up, making it appear to be longer. Meanwhile, "jojido" is an "exotic Japanese" technique which is similar to the jelq. These exercise all operate on the premise that the penis is a muscle that can be toned and buffed similar to your biceps. However, the smooth muscles of the penis can’t be exercised.

Penis pumps

These devices (both the hand pump and electric varieties) were developed to help men who have difficulty erecting their penises. A penis pump is made up of a plastic cylinder that is placed on a penis and makes it erect by drawing blood into the penis as you pump air out of it.

Once it is erected, the cylinder is then removed after placing a specially-designed rubber band at the base of the penis to hold the blood in and keeps it erect during sex. Note, however, that the constrictor band should not be kept in place for more than 20 minutes. In other words, penis pumps could only make penises erect, not longer.

Hypnosis tapes

No amount of hypnotic suggestion would make your penis larger. This is probably false advertising that should be ignored.

Weights

Some men put weights on their penises in hopes that pulling the penile tissue would make it stretch longer. However, it has not been confirmed to be effective.

Penile enlargement surgery

Surgical techniques, including injecting the penis with fat, through tissue grafts, or by cutting the ligaments that attach the penis to the pubic bone. Although they are available, these techniques are not well-researched or well-defined up to this point. Besides, tissue grafts can leave large scars on your penis, while injecting fat can result in a lumpy penis (since fat is reabsorbed into the body).

Meanwhile, cutting off ligaments results in an erection that points downward due to loss of the penis’ anchor to the pubic bone, which could be mistaken as a positive result. Moreover, nerves can be cut and damaged during surgery as well. Whatever method of surgery you chose, you will most likely end up having your penis repaired.
