Centering Meditation

Centering is basically meditation in action where in you remain in your "calm center" despite the busy and stressful everyday life. Being "centered" means that you do not allow your inner light to be overshadowed by stressful circumstances or negative thoughts and emotions. Doing this meditation only requires minimal attention, as it allows you to keep some of your attention on the activity at hand. Here are some easy and effective centering techniques.

Simple breathing awareness – While involved in whatever you are doing, try bringing some attention to your breathing for just a few moments-enough to bring you back to your calm center. Breathe naturally, or a little more slowly and deeply.

Reclaiming your energy – As you breathe deeply, imagine you are pulling all of your scattered energy and attention back to your inner self or calm center. This technique is more advisable if you feel stressed.

Letting go – This technique combines breath awareness with the mantra, "Let go." It is especially helpful when you are tense and fixating on a stressful situation or a negative though or emotion. As you inhale, silently say "let"; then as you exhale, say "go" as you let go of all that is stressing you.

Inner sun – As you breathe, imagine a bright sun filling your heart chakra-the calm, subtle energy field that permeates your chest area. Then, imagine that sun gently emanating peace and joy throughout your entire being.
