Introduction to Heart Disease

Poems,, narratives, dramatic plays, songs are all inspired by emotions. Sometimes, we refer to these emotions as the words of the heart.

The heart is capable of many things. It aches, it leaps, it gives us the sense of fulfillment. It keeps the desires and secrets of every soul. That is the heart we metaphorically address as center of our humanity.

With such poetic address for the heart, it does deserve more affection from us. We should not only feed our heart with brilliant words or wonderful emotions but also of the right nutrients to keep it healthy.

Many people die of heart attacks because once they had the chance to nurture their body, they failed to take advantage of it. It is unfortunate that some realize the gravity of their unhealthy lifestyle when the heart starts to depreciate.

What is heart disease?

Definitely it is more than the emotions throbbing in every veins of your heart. Heart disease is the most common illness most especially popular to the older population. Heart disease is any disorder that affects the heart. Sometimes the term "heart disease" is used narrowly and incorrectly as a synonym for coronary artery disease. It is synonymous with cardiac disease but not with cardiovascular disease which is any disease of the heart or blood vessels.

Common misconception of heart disease that it comes only in one type— coronary heart disease. Actually, there are other types such as Angina; Arrhythmia; Congenital heart disease; Coronary artery disease (CAD); Dilated cardiomyopathy; Heart attack (myocardial infarction); Heart failure; Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; Mitral regurgitation; Mitral valve prolapse; and Pulmonary stenosis.

Failure of the heart is the most common cause of death among men and women not only in the United States but around the world. What fails the heart is the lifestyle of a person. Crucial is the toxic we take in when certain intakes either in the form of food or vice to the development of heart disease.

What causes heart disease?

The most common cause of heart disease is cigarette and tobacco smoking. Yup, those series of puffing during breaktimes, clubbings,or during stare at the ceiling moments can lessen the stamina of your heart. Smoking cigarettes is a significant risk factor for many serious conditions, including heart disease. So if you think, you are one of those who smoke their hearts out, think twice before you light that cigarette.

Even those high level cholestrol food we love to indulge in and what we call soul food are less than souls to the heart. Too much and high intake of cholesterol leads to the blockage of the heart. Science shows that a heart healthy diet is one with relatively unprocessed foods, with veggies and fruits, and rice or grains that retain much of their original kernel-structure.Such ‘whole’ foods became scarce in Western diets. If you can’t recognize part of the original food, the item is processed or refined. Some fresh eggs, liver or fish are probably also vital for most of us.

And for those couch potatoes, listen– inactivity does nothing good to the heart. Exercise is a great way to be fit and up on your game Involvement in sports that strengthens the cardiovascular system will benefit you in years to come. Keeping a healthy body and a healthy heart shall give you the adventure in this lifetime. Learn to relax from time to time.

They say the heart functions only as a muscular organ in vertebrates. It pumps blood through rhythmic beats. Symbolically, the heart is life. Is is historically seen as the seat of the soul and the organ responsible for human thought. Thus, let us dance to the beat by keeping the core in good vibes all the time. It is not referred to as the center of the body if it wasn’t. Learn to love your heart. By then you learn to love life.
