Acne

Acne is one of the most common skin flaws that affect adolescents. Acne usually affect the facial area and can easily become quite unsightly. They are caused by excess oil produced by overactive sebaceous glands. Follicles can be plugged shut by this excess oil which can become unsightly blackheads or whiteheads. When this plugged follicles become irritated, they become inflamed that causes pimples, cysts and nodules.

Although acne is considered a natural occurrence during the growing up years and is generally harmless to health, they can leave facial scars that can affect one’s looks. In order to avoid these scars, there are now several treatment options available to help keep acne in check especially for adolescents as well as reduce the scarring that it can cause.

Moles

Moles are the usual dark, round and raised spots that can be found everywhere in the skin. Moles may either be present at birth or they can develop somewhere in the body over time. Although most moles are generally harmless, there are others that can be unsightly, especially the most noticeable ones in terms of size and shape.

For unsightly moles that pose as cosmetic skin problems for some people, mole removal treatments are available. It is also important to take note that some moles in the body can also sometimes develop into skin cancer. People should take a closer look at moles that may have irregular edges, uneven coloring as well as those that are larger than a pencil eraser. These moles may need to be checked by a skin doctor.

Birth Marks

Birth marks are areas of noticeable pigmented skin that people have since birth. They can also appear a short time after birth. Birth marks can vary in terms of size, shape and color. There are birth marks that are temporary and there are those that become permanent.

Generally harmless, birth marks become a problem only if they are unsightly because of their color, shape or form. There are also some birth marks that may require treatment when they pose as a sign of other skin problems.
