Watermelons for Erectile Dysfunction

Watermelon can be much like Viagra, according to researchers. It is found that it contains citrulline, an amino acid that can dilate blood vessels as is the effect of drugs that can help problems regarding erectile dysfunction or ED. Believed at first that the particular amino acid was found only in watermelon rind, it was discovered that it existed mostly in the eatable part of the fruit.

The process, can aid in combating ED, is that citrulline has to be converted first into arginine, which then transforms into nitric oxide which is responsible for the construction of the blood vessels. That arginine itself can aid patients with artherosclerosis, it may as well be the same for citrulline since it is the former’s converted output.

However, it is still unknown and debatable, to the least, at how much citrulline-rich food must be taken to counter erectile dysfunction. This is because, men with penile dysfunction, basically, do not lack in arginine. Secondly, that it could mitigate the disorder is cannot be asserted as it is despite facts that certain amounts of watermelon can make enough citrulline.

A fruit rich in potassium and phytonutrients like lycopene and beta-carotene.  Watermelon is also a fruit known as low in calories. Currently, though, there is no study that can prove this claim. Experts are hoping that a more intensive research can be done regarding watermelons as a natural treatment against erectile dysfunction.
