Quick Healthy Breakfast Options

With our fast-paced lifestyle, many people think that it is logical to skip breakfast to get to work early and lose weight at the same time.  Bad idea.

Health experts recommend that you should start your day with a combination of protein, healthy fat, and fiber so you would not end up grabbing the cupboard for midmorning snacks.  However, if you are a person on the go, how will you be able to sneak in breakfast in your schedule?

Making breakfast does not have to be a chore, as these quick and healthy breakfast tips provide.

A bowl of oatmeal

Combine half-a-cup of dry oatmeal with a cup of water or soy milk and microwave for two minutes.  Top your bowl with a variety of fruits, nuts, seeds, raisins, or even a spoonful of nut butter.

Recommended toppings include walnuts, pumpkin seeds, canned pumpkin, ground flaxseed meal, banana slices, raspberries, blueberries, and wheatberries.

Homemade smoothie

Blend a cup of non-fat yogurt, 1/2 cup frozen berries, a banana, a tablespoon of hemp protein, half-a-cup of soy milk, and a half-cup of ice.  Once fully blended, drink it on your way to work.  This takes less then 10 minutes, including the cleanup.

Quickie breakfast

If you are really pressed for time, grab a bar of Odwalla, a piece of whole fruit, and a cup of soy-milk misto.  A misto is basically a cup of brewed coffee with steamed milk.  It has far fewer calories, and even less expensive, than a latte or cappuccino.
