Candida Cleanse

Some practitioners of alternative health care are blaming common symptoms such as fatigue, headache, and poor memory on an intestinal overgrowth of the fungus-like organism Candida albicans, or yeast syndrome.

To treat yeast syndrome, alternative health care practitioners recommend a Candida cleanse diet. Diet prohibits sugar, white flour, yeast and cheese because they believe that these foods encourage Candida growth.

However, according to Dr. Brent A. Bauer of the MayoClinic, there is very little evidence that support the diagnosis of yeast syndrome, and conventional health care practitioners question its validity. On top of that, there are no clinical trials that keep a record of the effectiveness of the Candida cleanse diet for treating any known medical condition.

It is not surprising though that a lot of people observe an improvement in their various symptoms when they follow the diet.

If you limit your intake of white flour and sugar, you are basically cutting out most processed foods which are usually high in calorie content but low on nutritive value.

You will start to feel better within weeks of taking out processed foods and switching to fresh one. Says Dr. Brent Bauer, "That, rather than stopping the growth of yeast in the gastrointestinal tract, is the main benefit of a Candida cleanse diet."
