Common Reasons For Body Odor

Body odor can be come a very serious problem for most people. Whether its bad breath or any other area of the body, there can be many reasons for it, with most of them quite easily preventable. Here are some of the more common causes of body odor and how you might be able to avoid it.

Eating a high protein, low-carb diet.

Having a diet plan consisting of high protein and low carbohydrate meals may possibly cause your breath to bad. The body normally burns carbs for energy to keep it functioning. Lack of enough carbohydrates can trigger the body to convert to burning fats as the primary source for energy. A result of this process is the release of compounds called ketones into the bloodstream which can cause your breath to smell funky. To avoid this, you might consider adding more carbs into your diet and instead count on calorie intake to continue maintaining your weight.

You are overstressed.

Stress can also be a cause of your body odor. When a person become stressed, body heat usually increases, causing the body to sweat more to avoid overheating. The moisture can become a possible breeding ground for bacteria throughout the day which then can be the reason for your body odor. You can try using deodorants or anti-perspiration products on those areas that might sweat more. You can also try to get rid of the stress, which can be more effective. Drinking sage tea might also do the job since it contains compounds that help calm your nerves as well as reduce your overall perspiration.

You don’t dry off after showering.

You may take a shower to feel more refreshed. But if you don’t towel off after you’re done, it won’t usually last long. The reason for this is because not toweling off after a shower can get moisture trapped into the folds of your skin. This becomes a potential breeding ground for odor-causing bacteria and fungi throughout the day. Combined with sweat, the bacteria and fungi can easily cause odor and irritation which can be easily prevented by a thorough drying off after a shower.
