Home remedies can be quite useful, especially during emergencies. They can provide immediate first aid for a lot of situations. While there are some common remedies, there can also be strange but effective ones as well. Here are just some of them.
Cool a fever through your armpits.
While drinking plenty of fluids may help bring down a mild fever, it may not be able to do it quite fast enough for fevers above 102 degrees Fahrenheit. To quickly bring body temperature down putting an icepack under your armpits or near the groin would do the trick. Although it might be uncomfortable, it can quickly cool down the body’s core.
Disinfect a wound with honey.
Surprising and strange as it may seem, putting honey on a cut or a would can help prevent it from getting infected. Honey is known to have some powerful antibacterial properties. Studies show that it can kill almost all the strains of the most common bacteria that can infect wounds. Honey may be a fitting alternative for a disinfectant if you can’t find anything else in the home to remedy a cut or a wound.
Stop bleeding using black pepper.
If you find yourself bleeding from a cut and would want to stop it, try using black pepper. Clean the wound using running water then sprinkle a little black pepper to the wound and then apply some pressure. The black pepper will effectively stop the cut from bleeding further in no time. Aside from that black pepper also has antiseptic and antibacterial properties, making your cut well protected from infection as an immediate remedy.
