Common Factors That Cause Back Pain

Back pain has become on of the common problems that more and more people seem to be experiencing. About 80 percent of people are affected by back pain in one form or another. There can be very many reasons why back pain may occur. Here are some of the possible causes.

Lack Of Exercise

Lack of regular exercise can cause certain muscles to be left unused, especially those located in the abdominal area. Lack of exercise for this muscle group usually leads to poor posture which will increase the likelihood of people experiencing low back pain.

Incorrect  Lifting

The wrong way of lifting heavy objects is also a common cause of back pain in some people. Most people tend to put more pressure on their back when lifting, further straining it which can then cause back pain. Instead, one should try to life objects by bending the kneed and using the power of the legs instead of the back, keeping the load as close to the body as possible when doing so.

Lack Of Calcium And Vitamin D

Vitamin D and Calcium are the essential nutrients to develop bone strength. Weak bones may also lead to poor posture and may contribute to lower back pain. Trying to make sure to get the necessary amounts of these nutrients may help prevent one from experiencing back pain as a result of poor posture.

Cigarette Smoking

Regular smoking may also contribute to back pain. The nicotine may be to blame. It can restrict the blood flow in the discs that cushions the vertebrae, which can lead to injury and back pain. Nicotine also diminishes the body’s ability to absorb calcium, preventing the growth of new bones. This can further lead into a higher risk of osteoporotic fracture compared to non-smokers.
