Thyroid Problems

For those suffering from such a condition called hypothyroidism, depression is a more likely symptom along with fatigue, sensitivity and constipation. The hypothyroidism can be treated with medication that would also help deal with the depression.

Lack Of Fish In Diet

Studies suggest that lack of omega-3 fatty acids found in fish such as salmon may be associated with greater depression risk. One 2004 Finnish study indicated an association with eating les fish and depression in women, but not in men. What may help explain the role of omega 3 fatty acids in depression is that the compound acts as a neurotransmitter regulator.

Sleep Deprivation

Those who have the habit of getting enough sleep regularly are prone to developing depression. Without enough sleep, the body may not be able to replenish brain cells. This could lead to a decrease of brain cells that are normally functioning. Eventually, this condition can contribute to the development of depression in people.
